What's covered?

Citroën Extended Warranty covers the cost of parts and labour in the event of a mechanical or electrical failure of the covered components up to the claims limits outlined in the Policy Document and your Welcome Letter. Citroën Extended Warranty covers an extensive list of components, according to your policy cover level, for failure in the UK or mainland Europe. What's not covered?

A Citroën Extended Warranty provides a high level of cover, but unfortunately we can’t cover consumable items such as brake pads or discs, tyres, oils & fluids (other items are also exluded, please refer to the Policy Document for full details). These items are 'wear and tear' items and will need replacing with time. We're also unable to cover any items which have been modified from the manufacturer’s standard specification. Each cover level has a list of parts covered or excluded – please refer to the Policy Document.

Is labour covered?

Yes – a Citroën Extended Warranty covers parts, labour and VAT as outlined in your Policy Document.

What are the servicing requirements?

It is a condition of this warranty that your vehicle is serviced in accordance with the vehicle manufacturer’s guidelines. Throughout the warranty period a VAT registered garage must carry out all servicing. Services must be carried out within 1000 miles / one month of the intervals specified by the vehicle manufacturer, whichever comes first.

What does "wear and tear" mean?

“Wear and tear” means wear on any covered components that is suffered as part of regular and reasonable use.

Is it ok if my car has been out of warranty?

If your car is currently out of warranty, you are not eligible to purchase a Citroën Extended Warranty policy.

Can I use any repairer? / Where can I get my car repaired?

Citroën Extended Warranty lets you choose the garage to have your car fixed – you can opt for a main dealer or your local independent repairer. However, we recommend that you use an authorised Citroën repairer as they will have the correct diagnostics equipment and their technicians will be fully trained by Citroën. All that we ask is that the repairer is VAT-registered. Your repairer will be able to manage any claim for you and we’ll liaise directly with your repairer to authorise and pay for valid repairs.

Breakdown assistance cover is available as an optional extra with Citroën Extended Warranty.

Are existing faults covered?

Unfortunately, we can’t cover existing faults with your vehicle. You should have these faults rectified by a Citroën Authorised Repairer before purchasing a Citroën Extended Warranty.

Can I buy a Citroën Extended Warranty if I don’t drive a Citroën?

Citroën Extended Warranty is designed specifically for Citroën vehicles however, where an existing Citroën warranty is in-place, some other vehicle makes are eligible. Please call 0344 573 8191 for more details.

How can I pay for my Citroën Extended Warranty?

You can pay for your Citroën Extended Warranty by using a credit or a debit card. A Monthly Renewing option is also available - payable by 10 monthly Direct Debits at no extra cost.

How soon can I make a valid claim?

You can make a valid claim as soon as your policy is registered with us – there's no waiting period before a claim can be made. Nevertheless if the failure already existed when your policy was registered your claim will not be covered unless you had a valid policy at the time of the failure.

Will I have to pay for a covered repair?

Citroën Extended Warranty will pay for all covered repairs up to the claims limit outlined in the Policy Document.

What happens if my car breaks down abroad?

If you break down abroad, you should have the car fixed locally and then contact us on your return to the UK to arrange for any reimbursement. Please ensure you obtain a full receipt for any work carried out. Unfortunately, we can't liaise or authorise repairs directly with repairers overseas.

I live outside of the UK but have a UK Specification Citroën, can I purchase a Citroën Extended Warranty?

Unfortunately, Citroën Extended Warranty is only available to individuals residing or corporate bodies registered in the UK.

What happens if I’m not happy with the service?

We hope you won't need to make a complaint, but if you're not happy with the service provided, you should call Citroën Warranty Administration on 0344 573 8191, or write to The Customer Service Manager, Citroën Warranty Administration, Jubilee House, 5 Mid Point Business Park, Thornbury, West Yorkshire, BD3 7AG. Please quote your vehicle registration number to ensure your enquiry is dealt with promptly. We'll do our best to resolve your query straight away, in line with the complaints process outlined in the Policy Document. Should you not be satisfied with the initial resolution of your complaint, you will still be entitled to complain to the Financial Ombudsman Service.

What if I sell my car?

If you decide to sell your car privately, you can either transfer the warranty to the new owner, providing your policy is fully-paid or cancel your policy and receive a pro rate refund of your premium based on the number of whole months remaining subject to the deduction of a cancellation fee of £30. Simply call our Customer Services team on 0344 573 8191 to make the change, or complete the Transfer Of Ownership form in the back of your Policy Document and return it to us.

Can I transfer my warranty?

Yes, you can transfer your warranty if your policy is fully-paid. If you sell your car privately, you can transfer the warranty to the new owner by completing the Transfer of Ownership Form in Section 7 of the Policy Document. Please note that the warranty needs to be fully paid for before it can be transferred.

Can I get warranty cover for a private hire vehicle or chauffeur car?

Unfortunately, if you use your vehicle for hire or reward (taxis, private hire vehicles, chauffeur cars or driving schools) we are unable to provide you with cover. We're also unable to provide Citroën Extended Warranty to vehicles used for racing or rallying, including time-trials, timed events or track-days. In addition, we exclude vehicles owned by motor traders or garages.

What if I've modified my car?

Unfortunately, we can't cover cars that are modified from their original manufacturer specification.

What if I change my mind?

If you change your mind, you have the right to cancel the warranty within 30 days of purchase and the optional assistance element within 14 days of purchase. If you wish to cancel your policy after this 30-day period, you may cancel your policy in writing at any time and receive a pro rata refund of your premium based on the number of whole months remaining subject to the deduction of a cancellation fee of £30.

Can I get warranty cover for a company car?

Citroën Extended Warranty is available for eligible privately registered cars.

What if my car is an import?

If your car is a grey import (not a UK-specification model), we cannot cover it on Citroën Extended Warranty.

Do I still need car insurance if I have a Citroën Extended Warranty?

Yes, you do. Citroën Extended Warranty is not a car insurance product, so you still need to insure your car.
